Cate McGowan’s story collection, True Places Never Are (Moon City Press), won the Moon City Press Short Fiction Award and was a finalist for the Lascaux Review Short Fiction Collection Contest. McGowan’s stories, essays, and poems have appeared in many literary outlets, including Norton’s Flash Fiction International, Glimmer Train, Crab Orchard Review, Barrelhouse, Shenandoah, Into the Void, The Louisville Review, Moon City Review, Vestal Review, and Unbroken. A native Georgian and current, reluctant Floridian (Heat! Hurricanes! Alligators! Faulty voting machines!), McGowan is pursuing her Ph.D. in philosophy and critical studies.
